Hey, how's it going?

For now, I'm calling "PRODUCTIVITY" the things I do while I'm in that work-focused state of mind. And, as it currently stands, that refers to Web site mastering. So here are a few of the unrestricted sites that I've developed.

SDSC Knowledge and Information Discovery Lab (SKIDL) - Not much here yet, but the graphics were fun to create.

California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology - Cal-(IT)2 (pronounced kal•eye•tee squared) is a very exciting new program with centers at UCSD and UCI. Funded by the California Governor's "Institutes for Science and Innovation" initiative and by industry, these centers will find innovative new ways to extend the reach of our information infrastructure into the physical world. For me, the most interesting part of Cal-(IT)2 is the New Media Arts layer. This group will spend most of their time exploring how users will interact with burgeoning digital environments.
(This site has changed since I created it, but a few of my touches remain).

UCSD's Superfund Basic Research Program - The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) supports hazardous materials research through a handful of U.S. universities. UCSD's contributions to this program focus on implementing modern scientific approaches to identify and characterize genomic stress responses elicited by waterborne pollutants. BTW, no water molecules were harmed in the creation of the cover image.

Partnership for Biodiversity Informatics - We'll see if this site blossoms. It's a collaborative effort between a number of biologists and ecologists who want to take advantage of the mass of balkanized knowledge that relates to their fields. So far, most of them at least agree that the logo is pretty cool. What more could I ask.

NSF Net Center for Plant Genomics - This is a directory resource for researchers (or anyone) sponsored by the National Science Foundation's Plant Genome Project. Grant recipients may use this site to track similar projects and use the fruits of others' labor in order to tackle the challenges of deciphering and manipulating plant genome information. This Web site is also funded by the NSF.

Joint Center for Structural Genomics - A Web site I'm currently developing for UCSD/SDSC, The Scripps Research Institute, Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, and others. The site is dedicated to structural genomic research of the C. elegans nematoda and also that of the human.

Binational Conference on Environmental Research and Policy - I don't know, the title really sums this one up pretty well. The conference is over, but was very successful in bringing together academicians and policy makers from both sides of the US-Mexican border to discuss shared environmental concerns.

Beyond The Imagination Graphics - Nicole (my wife) and I opened BTI Graphics two weeks after we were married in January of 1993. We focused on print design with a sideline interest in other media, such as the Web. After all this time, our own Web site has never left the "under construction" phase.

Extreme Networking Workshops - This Web site provides attendees participation information for High-End Networking Applications and Technologies Workshops.
