Ananta Tiwari received his PhD degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.
He received his BA degree in Computer Science and Economics at Grinnell College, Grinnell,
Iowa and MS degree at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Ananta Tiwari works as a senior computational scientist at the Performance Modeling and Characterization lab,
which focuses on research that bring scientific rigor to the performance prediction and understanding of factors
affecting the performance of HPC applications on current and future HPC platforms. He is also interested in
understanding the energy consumption of large-scale data-intensive applications by developing energy consumption
models and using these for application- and energy-aware auto-tuning techniques for HPC applications.
Highlighted Project:
Green Queue at San Diego Supercomputer Center
This project examines the scalability of a set of
techniques related to Dynamic Voltage-Frequency Scaling (DVFS) on HPC
systems. The goal is to reduce the energy consumption of scientific
applications through an application-aware analysis and runtime
framework, Green Queue, which supports making CPU clock frequency
changes in response to intra-node and inter-node observations about
application behavior.
