Emerging from the long dark tunnel. Here, we are coming out of the long dark tunnel. It seems never ending, walking through this one. You really need a good light to enjoy this one. Next time I'm taking a better one or at least try to get my friends to bring their own. Hearing people stumble and fall behind you can be funny at times, but I'm sure it's painful (for them). Lot's of rocks in the path that have fallen from the walls and ceiling. I'm sure it's dangerous going through these tunnels. But, what the Hey! Danger is half the excitement, right?

Heading back. This is a most awesome shot of the veins in the rock. Check out that hillside. Next time I'm out here, I'm going to have to spend more time checking out the different rock formations. I don't know which tunnel this is. There are 10 of them between highway 8 and the Goat Canyon trestle.
Eye in the sky. This area is patrolled by helicopter. We saw this one fly over us four times while we were out there. They stopped, turned sideways and checked us out pretty good from the air. We're just a bunch of white boys. It was obvious that we weren't illegal aliens trying to cross through the gorge. Then they continued on their way.
Nearing the end.The sun is getting low in the sky. This makes for a nice surrounding as the shadows begin to swallow the landscape. It's the end of December and the days are very short. Our journey is nearing the end and it's a good thing. We are pretty worn out and this trip took a bit longer than we had planned. But we still made it back to the car before the sun hit the horizon.
