Is that a train? Here we are somewhere in the middle of the long tunnel. What's that? Is there a train coming? No, it's just the light at the end of the tunnel. If it really was a train, we would be in big trouble. Although there is probably enough room up against the walls, I wouldn't want to be in here with one rumbling along these tracks. The dust alone would probably choke you. In fact, you can see the dust reflecting the light of the flash in this picture.

Are we there, yet? How much farther? This is the last tunnel before we come out at the Goat Canyon trestle. As you can see, it is curved. This makes for a nice effect since you can't really see the trestle until you come out of this tunnel. Then, there it is, right before your eyes.
The Goat Canyon trestle. We finally made it! This is what we set out for, to reach this trestle. It is the largest curved wooden trestle in the United States.
On the trestle.I hope you're not afraid of heights. It's a long way down. Walking on the steel catwalks is an interesting experience. You can see right through them down into the canyon below. There are other routes to get to this trestle. You can ride or hike up from the desert. Or, for the more adventurous, there is the climb up Mortero Palm canyon and down into Goat Canyon.
