I work in the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Developement Group at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. My research interests include scientific data acquisition and management, data intensive application development, parallel and federated database systems and information integration. I am also affiliated with the Center for Large-scale Data Systems Research (CLDS) at SDSC which engages in research and development related to data intensive cloud computing.

I am currently the Technical Lead of the National Science Foundation funded OpenTopography Facility, which provides internet-based access to large volumes of high-resolution airborne and ground-based LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) topographic data sets, derived data products and web based processing tools for generating custom digital elevation models. I am also the Informatics Lead for the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Shared Resource group at the Moores Cancer Center at UCSD. Additionally I work on several research projects including the NASA LiDAR Access System (NLAS), a NASA funded project to develop a data access system to serve laser altimetry data from the NASA space-based ICESat system and the airborne LVIS platform through the OpenTopography Facility, the NCI funded Cyberinfrastructure for Comparative Effectiveness Research (CYCORE) and an NSF Cluster Exploratory (CluE) grant entitled "Performance Evaluation of On-Demand Provisioning of Data Intensive Applications" that studies the effectiveness of dynamic strategies for provisioning data intensive applications by conducting a thorough performance evaluation of alternative provisioning strategies using the Apache Hadoop programming environment.

I recieved my MS degree in Computer Science from San Diego State University and my Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from the University of Madras, India.
