UPDATE: I am no longer at SDSC. I have moved on to pursue other career opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am a Senior Distributed Systems Researcher and Group Leader in the Advanced CyberInfrastructure Development Group (ACID) at SDSC. My areas of expertise are Service-oriented Architectures (SOA), and Grid and Cloud computing middleware and applications.

Prior to SDSC, I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University under Prof. Dennis Gannon. My thesis was titled An Architecture for Checkpointing and Migration of Distributed Components on the Grid. I received my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. I also spent one summer each at the Argonne National Lab, IL (2002) and IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center, NY (2003).

  • Co-Principal Investigator, Benchmarking Data Intensive Applications on the Triton Resource, SDSC Triton Resource Opportunity (TRO) Program.
  • Technical Project Manager for NEESit, which provided technology tools and infrastructure to enable earthquake engineers to remotely participate in experiments, perform hybrid simulations, organize and share data, and collaborate with colleagues.

  • The Opal toolkit, which is responsible for wrapping scientific applications on Grid and cluster resources as Web services.
  • myHadoop, which is a very simple system for provisioning on-demand Hadoop instances via traditional schedulers on HPC resources.
  • points2grid, which is a tool for the generation of Digital Elevation Models (DEM) for high resolution topographic datasets.
