New page, started Feb 2005, for SDSC-related NEESit work. Organization is imminent, I promise. For now, a plain list will have to suffice.

  • SDSC MUD info and instructions This was a flop, alas.
  • Channel units workflow test - how to test the units
  • Turbine apps documentation This is important - documentation on all of the programs we've written for the data turbine. Also covers some turbine tweaking. Programmer information
  • Understanding the time selection parameters in Request
  • Units in the Data Turbine - details and specification Being revised as of May 2005!
  • CVS instructions/information How to to get code from our main CVS archive.

    Local hardware

Our new Quanser shake table arrived 4/20/05, and I took some Quanser pictures for your enjoyment.

I also uploaded a couple of PDFs from the docs:

  • Brochure, 320K
  • Users manual, 2.1MB

Here are the demo instructions for running the table using the Quanser control code.

    Trip reports

Sometimes I visit equipment sites, which is one of the best parts of this position. The idea is to learn what they're doing, solve problems, and learn more about what NEES can do to advance the science.

I'm including some older stuff from NEESgrid for completeness.

  • RPI and SUNY 2002
  • Berkeley Feb 2005
  • Minnesota (UMN) Jan 2005
  • Garner Valley Aug 2004
  • UCLA July 2004
  • Salt Lake City Aug 2005 - no report, but the pictures are posted.
  • Urbana-Champaign April 2006 - hybrid sim workshop.
  • UCSD shake table April 2006 - blast test, pictures only
  • Taiwan, April 2006 - trip report, link to pictures is at the bottom of the page.
  • Hybrid simulation and testing

I've setup a wordpress site for the redesign and implementation of our hybrid simulation system. This is a collaboration to rework NTCP now that GT3 is end-of-lifed, and everyone is invited to particpate.
