For people who know me just as Hannes: Roland came into play when I entered the US. Actually Roland is the first name on my birth certificate. Since my parents wanted me to be called 'Hannes' the second 'first' name got an underscore which never translated into my passport. Since all US documents are based on this information and only the name sequence counted I became Roland H. Niedner.
