SRB Web Services

SRB Web Services form a part of the preliminary efforts to create a Data Grid Management System (DGMS) at the SDSC/NPACI.

The Final System will include:

Synchronous and Asynchronous Webservices
An event-trigger system to support asynchronous webservice invocations
Support for virtual data or virutal services using user-defined and application specific metadata
Flexibility for the data grid clients to choose between protocols for transport of local data to the grids. Some data tranport protocols include (SRB-RPC, FTP, GFTP, HTTP).
Each data grid operation will be implemented as separate service having a separate interface and URN.

We are working on the Schema and protocols which will be based on W3C and GGF-GCE standards or recommendataions regarding Web Services like SOAP, XML-Schema, WSDL etc.

Some "toy" SRB Web Services were implemented:

SRB GSI-SOAP Services (demonstrates basic srb commands invoked using GSI-SOAP). These were implemented by Maytal Dahan of Grid Portal Group at SDSC.

SRB IngestObject (demonstrates the basic srb opertion of adding any object into a data grid/collection). The WSDL-interface and wsdl binding file were also created for these services. This interface requires Apache SOAP. These are our toy implementations before we provide a final service ready for "prime time".
